Today I am grateful for this season.

Accepting the season and times I am in is fundamental to being happy, joyous, free, authentic and compassionate. When I can accept my circumstances, transcending disappointment and fear, then I have true power. It is more powerful to transform my countenance than to change the weather. When I courageously change my attitude I develop compassion for others who are travelling the same road of challenging and uncertain times

It is not ideal living out of a suitcase without a permanent home as I am. I could buck and push against it causing my countenance to be frustrated and downcast or I could unpack my stuff and take up residence in this extended season of transition? I am speaking metaphorically and literally.

When I accept the season I am in there is no need to act out on maladaptive coping strategies. Using anger, intimidation and escaping into substance abuse or other risk taking and unsafe behaviour creates more problems. I harmed myself and others for too long doing that. Today, by accepting the season I am in, I am free from the bondage of harmful behaviour. Accepting my circumstances transforms me to be a safe man, compassionate and authentic.

Today I will take up residence in the uncertainty of this transitional season. Today I accept where I have hung my hat is my home.
