Today I am grateful for self determination.

Today Cairns has gone into a snap lockdown. I am in an empty apartment. My furniture is in storage and I was supposed to move to temporary accommodation today. There are also challenges to settle in my new home. Yet, I’m not the only one with challenges. We are living in difficult times and there are challenging days ahead.

Self determination is all about taking responsibility. No one else is responsible for my attitude, thinking, feelings or behaviour. A transformed perspective and renewed heart and mind is a personal choice. No one else can make that choice for me. Vector Frenkle wrote, “Freedom is but the negative aspect of the whole phenomenon whose positive aspect is responsibility”.

Early on in the pandemic, when the restrictions were first being announced, I resolved to write a series of gratitude posts. That was over a year ago. I must have written 100 gratitude posts by now?

Thank you for going on this journey with me. Let us stick to the path. Don’t doubt in the darkness what we knew for certain in the light. Let us not double guess ourselves.

Today I am responsible for my own choices and behaviour. Today I choose to continue what I started whatever it takes.
